Prior to attending law school at the University of British Columbia, Kaila graduated at the top of her class earning a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Paralegal Studies. During her undergraduate studies, Kaila worked part-time as a paralegal in a Toronto class action firm.
Kaila received her J.D. from the University of British Columbia in May, 2012. Throughout law school, Kaila supplemented a demanding curriculum with extensive practical experience. During her first year, she took on the role of assistant editor of the UBC Law Review (TSL). For the remaining two years, Kaila was employed at the UBC Office of the University Counsel as a student legal assistant. Throughout these endeavours, Kaila generously volunteered her time to the UBC’s Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, where she advised and represented clients who were unable to afford legal assistance.
Kaila was called to the British Columbia bar in May 2013. Since being called to the bar, Kaila has worked on numerous files including family, estate and personal injury litigation matters.
In her spare time, Kaila enjoys camping, sporting events, and participating in weekly team sports including softball and football.
Kaila’s practice consists of family and estate litigation files. Kaila has represented clients at all levels of BC Courts. Kaila works hard to get her clients to a settlement within a reasonable amount of time and cost. Although Kaila tries to reach settlement without using court processes, Kaila recognizes that some situations require court deadlines and procedures to push a fair settlement.
